NBA Referee Association & NBPA to meet over tensions

Thoughts? Some interesting things I found:

For example, players expressed frustration with referees holding up a hand -- like a stop sign -- when approached on the floor.

..."There have been four or five occasions when a player has gone to say, 'Hey, what's up with that?' and the official holds his hand up like a stop sign, like, 'I don't have time to talk to you.' ... Lee [Seham] told me, 'That's what they're trained to do.'

"I think it's a horrible idea. I hope someone over in [NBA] basketball operations will maybe reconsider that, because it doesn't serve to be a de-escalation of things -- it really pisses guys off. I don't know whose idea it was, but I hope they revisit the wisdom of it. I mentioned to players who specifically complained, and they weren't happy to hear that it was a part of the training.

The players union has no standing to be at the table with the officials, and to turn that into a negotiation is a recipe for disaster,

The union can take it up with the league, which has authority over the officials actions.

Negotiate with the players over calls? Hideous precedent.

Really? The players are worried that the official holds up a stop sign? If these multi- million dollar crybabys would pick and choose their battles... if they’d stop whining on every call, if they stop challenging every call and accept that they foul, or that officials miss calls..... maybe the official would talk to them....

If they respected officials maybe it would be better but when it is assumed that an official always makes a bad call, is trying to screw them, the official doesn’t know the rule... what do they expect?

Give me a break
