Anyone tried officiating in the Hoka shoes?
Thinking of switching over from Asics GT-1000 and thought there was a thread regarding the Hoka on here but can't find. Anyone worked in the Hoka brand? Thanks.

After reading those same threads, rstaggs23, I looked at the Hoka Bondi, in part because of the cushioning, and thought they look just fine. I found the toe box too tight for me, however.
A quick search just now for "hoka" turned up four threads where they are mentioned or discussed; the titles of the threads are about things like knee pain. One issue seems to be the "drop," the height of the cushion, if I understand it correctly. I do not work for Hoka. |

no smitty, I do not work for them. Do you always ask that when someone mentions something you have never heard of. Hoka' running shoe is very well known among runners and it seemed if someone had mentioned it on here in a thread before. Was going to get feedback on the shoe officiating-wise, before I purchased it as it is pretty pricey.
Thanks LRZ, I have a more narrow foot so usually have toe box troubles. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Hoka's are a great running shoe. Super light, Max cushion. Also the drop from heel to toe is about 5mm in most of them. Air max are about 14. I bought a pair of the Bondi 5s when my knee was giving me some issues. Their not real pretty and i just couldnt get much traction out of them. Havnt really worn them much more for officiating.

I'll be using a pair in the upcoming season. Yes, they're a tad pricey, and not the best looking. However, they are comfy, light, and offer good support which is what I'm more interested in. I've done some cross training in them, and they've been fine. Also, I've being wearing them for volleyball due to the support and the cushioning of the shoe.
PS My other shoe is an Ascics which I really like.

Doesn't anyone make an high top officiating shoe anymore? I need at least a mid-high if not a complete high top. I never been able to have my ankles taped because no matter how good the taper is, taping always cuts of the circulation to my feet, and it is getting more and more difficult to find a light weight tie up ankle brace.

Under armour shoes, as general statement, don't seem to have much cushion. Hard. To me anyway.

They make some pretty fancy ankle braces this day and age. U probably get better support from one of those. Talk to a Physical therapy place or something. They shoujd know all the latest.
