Need the R?

If a mistake has been made and the umpire is still on the floor at the end of the game he/she
a may determine the winning team and leave
b must call the referee and start the OT period
c may not correct the mistake because the referee has left the floor
d may call the referee back to make the correction

I am using 2-5-7 and will say d. Correct?

It's a very poor question -- we don't know what the result would be after the correction (OT or not). All we know for sure is that it's NOT "c".

I would agree that "d" is the best choice of the others.

I agree with this. Even if the mistake was obvious, and the outcome after correcting the error would result in a clear winner (no OT required), the referee specifically has the responsibility of checking and approving the score at the end of each half. While there isn't any specific procedure for checking and approving the score, I do think that if there is going to be some change to the score, it has to be approved by the referee.

Since the jurisdiction of the officials does not end until all officials leave the visual confines of the playing area, the referee would still have jurisdiction as long as even one official is within the visual confines. A tricky technicality though could be with a 2 man crew, if the R approves the score (by whatever process the R normally uses) and goes to the dressing room but the U becomes aware of a problem before leaving the court and then goes to the dressing room to get the R. They've both left the visual confines at this point and the R had approved the score. Could the team that stands to lose a W (either by losing the game outright or by being ahead and the change results in OT) use this argument to cement their win?

Agree with Bob, poorly worded.

My exam says D:
Explanation 2-2-4
