Season #5 started for me back on September 20. The local public middle schools play their girls basketball season from mid-September through October.

(And the fact it's $45 each for middle school games —and more for a DH, in fact, than for a freshmen DH here!)

Inquiring minds would like to know! Might be ready for a move too :D

Just another one of the beauties of living in ALASKA. Heck, I even work a tournament or two each season where I get on a plane, fly to a remote part of the state, work up to 3 games a day for 3-4 days, and they cover all my travel expenses as well.

Not a bad gig if you can get it!

Ok, now that's fair given the situation you described. I take back my incredulous post. In fact, that sounds like a lot of fun!

I've learned a lot about the economics of sub-collegiate officiating in the past few years, including the fact that supply and demand of officials is a HUGE deal.

When in Nome, do as the Nomans do.
Is the Shishmaref Ref still active up there? Haven't heard from him on the Forum for a number of years.

Not sure who that is. Shishmaref is an even SMALLER village a couple hundred miles away from Nome.

I did a tourney in Nome a few years ago. And on the last day, a storm blew in and we didn't get out until Monday due to whiteout conditions that prevented any flying on Saturday night and all day Sunday. Yest ANOTHER one of the beauties of living in Alaska.
