Had a blast of a game tonight!

Playoff game, winner goes to the final 8. It was a smaller gym and it was packed as full as they could get it. They had to turn people away. Had a fantastic partner who delivered a stellar performance. It was close all the way to the end with teams swapping leads throughout and tied at 56 going into the 4th quarter.

The home team was down 3 with under 10 seconds to go. I was Trail, table-side. A player forced a long 3 while well defended. I had a perfect view between the defender and the shooter....the defender missed everything, it was a clean release. The shot falls short of the rim. The other team catches the ball and is fouled right away (partner's call)...going to the other end for 1+1. The player that missed the shot runs up to me, gets in my face, and angrily screams "call the foul". I call the obvious T....not a word from the coach.

Ironically, the other team missed the front-end of the 1+1 but made one of the FTs for the T. If not for the T, the home team may have had another shot to tie the game but that 1 made FT from the T and the possession that came with it put it out of reach.

Our locker room was in a coaches office on the way to the home team's locker area. After the game, while in the locker room, we heard a loud racket outside the office door. Someone was slamming stuff around and yelling and cussing for several minutes. My partner saw who it was through a window in the office. It was the same kid that got the T. It got quiet for a little while as he left the area. About 5-10 minutes later, it started up again for another few minutes.

3 or 4 more games to go before the season ends.....it has been a very fun year!

Nice work, Camron. Happy for you.

When does Oregon shift to 3-man crews in the playoffs?

Congratulations. I get enjoyment out of being on the court always, but really appreciate the tight games with a gym full of energy. Sounds like you had one of those.

Sounds like a blast and a great game.

Cam has been selected to work our 6A tournament next week. Only the best in our association go to the 6A and there's a reason he's going.

I'll take this opportunity to post my congrats!

I recall a few years ago that he was selected for either the 4A or 5A State Final. Was that the game in which the team held the ball?

Yes it was, but he wasn't working the game...

Had to pull up this old thread to be certain....

Not soon enough. This game could have used a 3rd. We had 2-3 misses that a 3rd would have absolutely been able to see, and others where it would have been just a better view. There was one apparently ugly screen that I didn't see coming. I saw the effects but didn't know the cause....so I couldn't call the foul that should have been called. It was a classic 2-referee play.

The state will be reviewing the first year of optional 3-person crews during the regular season which was on a league-by-league basis. They very well may go to it next year or they may not.
