Question

Albert Pujols received a 2-game suspension earlier this year. On Sunday and Monday, he sat out with the flu. Then, he dropped his appeal and sat out Tuesday and Wednesday for the suspension.

If he was so sick he couldn't play, why didn't the Cardinals keep that under wraps, and just have him sit out Sunday and Monday for the suspension, if he was physically unable to perform anyways?

He took the suspension over Tuesday and Wednesday as he was still sick and was not going to play anyways. It is a typical suspension upheld at the the time when the player/team feels it is best served and not when the league says. Another typical MLB players union in control joke and another example of how the players union is going to totally ruin what is left of the American pastime.
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a MLBFA union?? That's Major League Baseball Fans Association. We build it up to state that if the fans don't quit getting dumped on then we boycott buying and going to games, merchandise, etc and when these greedy SOB's (players and owners)remember the game is for us as well as them and they keep payroll and ticket prices down, then and only then will we go back.

OK I'm off my soapbox..:-)

There already is - it is called a "WALLET"!!!!!

None of these players in MLB, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, etc. are reaching into your pocket and taking your wallet out, opening it up, and forcing you to spend your money.

The American public has more power than they have any idea, but would rather be led around by their nose (or wallet in this case).....

I don't understand why when someone gets a suspension, they are able to serve it whenever they want. Why is this, does anyone know?

They can't take it "whenever" they want. There are limitations they work under.

In this case however, Pujols had appealed. Suspensions are put on hold until appeals are heard. He then rescinded his appeal prior to the hearing and served his suspension.

The reason for all the slack? Strong union, weak management, your choice.
