Thanks all! I decided to buy the video. I want to be able to give coaches a clear, concise explanation when they try to challenge calls and not have any doubts of my own because you know that coaches will sense that and just act like Richard Heads.

When giving an explanation, the less words used is better. If you get to wordy in your explanation, it will come back to bite you.

Not necessarily - when giving an explaination give the rule. But of course then you have to 'know' the rules. By giving the rule, you clairify why you called the balk.

Conversation:

Coach: "why you have a balk blue"

Blue: "according to rule X.xxa the pitcher must .... or cannot ... "

End of conversation.

Now giving an explaination off the top of your head, i agree, will only make it worse.

Thanks
David

I disagree with quoting the rule number (even if you know it).

Five words or less (fewer, for the grammar Nazis)

Use rule book terms.

Feinted to first.

Start and stop.

No step.

Stepped home (when threw to first).

Good point Bob, I agree, in my example got a little carried away.

Thanks for a clarification, but totally agree, using words that are in the rule book or terms such as are such an advantage in any conversation whether it is a balk or any other play etc.,

Thanks
David
