National Anthem Standoff
In my email this morning:
National Anthem Standoff: Any umpire shall eject any player, coach, manager or trainer for violations of the Coaches & Players Code of Ethics, p. 10. Conferences may choose to implement additional penalties (see Appendix D) The UIC is to warn the head coach of the offending team that should any player not return to his dugout area immediately after the playing of the National Anthem, the head coach and player(s) will be ejected immediately. Here is a video clip that demonstrates what is happening. Head Coaches: this is a violation of NCAAplaying rules and the umpires are to strictly enforce this rule. COASTAL CAROLINA v. The video looks staged.
|
It's not.

So where did the "you first" thing get started?
|
This video is a couple of years old. Has there been a rash of similar incidents?

If they're sending out emails (and I received one from the NCAA as well as both my coordinators), it's happening. |
the games we play
The things that kids will come up with these days …. sign of the times.
Have to give them an A for creativity. Thanks David |
Two thoughts:
|
NCAA HQ had to put out an email on this? Seems like a no-brainer to me that the players are doing something unsporting.

To an average person, it appears to be just a flock of grazing sheep, but my dog thinks IT'S A PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE SOLVED! |

If "Hey coach, get them back in the dugout" doesn't work, a quick ejection of the head coach would put an end to these shenanigans. Shame on the umpire who does nothing, and equal shame on the umpire who just runs everybody. |

This video is a bit old, but I don't see anyone trying to put a stop to this.
I think I could, and afterwards a report to assigner that would make its way to conference should end it going forward. |
