Next summer we are moving to the Phoenix area and I just had a few questions about...umpiring in the desert, hooking up with an organization, high school schedule, etc. Thanks for your help.

Chris

For HS information, go here:

http://www.aiaonline.org

This is the website of the AZ Interscholastic Association. They are the governing body of HS sports in AZ. In order to officiate HS sports, you must register with AIA.

I can't provide much help as far as other ball, but there is a lot out here, pretty much year-round.

Cool But it's a DRY heat...

Chris,

As stated, you will need to register with the AIA in order to umpire Varsity/JV Baseball. Freshman Ball is handled by another association, so those games are scheduled separately.

As far as other levels, here is a link to the Camelback Umpire's Assoc, which schedules Men's League (NABA, etc.) games:

http://www.camelbackumpires.com/

Local Little Leagues schedule umpires either as volunteers or paid, depending on how they are set up. All District LL umpires are volunteers...

Any other questions???

Jim

PS You will need to drink plenty of water, but make sure you get some electrolytes, too! (Gatorade, Powerade, etc...)
