One out, bases loaded, Cabrera doesn't particularly like the first called strike and says something to the Ump. Then, he doesn't care for the second strike call either, and appears to mumble something.....and gets run. Not demonstrative or anything, but he must have said the magic word. Of course Leyland comes unglued and he gets tossed too. I'm sure it will make ESPN....

Can't recall ever seeing a player get run in the middle of an AB with the bases loaded before.

PS - Phils got out of the inning.
But not out of the game

How does one umpire , Tim Timmons, allow a star like Ortiz to show him up but look the other way, while Fairchild tosses Cabrera who did nothing to show him up?

Timmons dumped him when he gestured a second time.

What Cabrera said to Fairchild had him leaving whether he showed him up or not.

Ortiz was not ejected until he took a bat to the dugout phone.

From our vantage point behind the dugout, Timmons gave him a wave just as Ortiz was about to enter the dugout. Ortiz was gesturing all the way back. We interpreted that wave as the ejection, especially after Ortiz gave Timmons the "it was over my head" sign at the plate.

Cabrera told Fairchild "your're horrible". You could clearly read his lips when he said it and Fairchild told Leyland the same thing at the plate. In addition, this occurred immediately after he warned Cabrera for chirping about balls and strikes.

"You're horrible" gets you a copy of the home game and some nice parting gifts no matter how you say it.

What does showing him up have to do with it? Could it be that Cabrera simply said the right words?
