Batter hits a routine ground ball that hits a runner and the umpire call the runner out for interference and awards the batter first base. Is the batter awarded a base hit? Just so you know one section 10.05 e states a hit shall be awarded when the ball strikes a runner or umpire and section 10.06 e states that a hit shall not be awarded if interference is called on a runner. Which is it a hit or not? PS this situation meets the definition of interference as stated in the rules under the runner section of the rulebook.
