A co-worker approached me with a question I'm not completely sure of the answer; any help is greatly appreciated.

In a high school varsity game, the score was 38-1 after four innings (this is a true story; Van Meter, Iowa was beating Earlham, Iowa). Per my co-worker, the visiting team forfeited at the end of the fourth; they refused to continue playing.

The question is, does this become an official game and do all of the offensive stats count for this game?

The game reverts to a 7-0 forfeit score (4-4)

The rule book is silent on the matter of individual stats.
