Here is the Situation: High School Game
Runners on 2nd and 3rd, after the pitch, catcher makes a snap throw to third which hits the batter (in the box) in the helmet and goes out of play over the 3rd base dugout. What do you have?

This is what I've got
I have a catcher that doesn't play his position very well and two runners that score, unless the batter did something intentional to interfere with the throw. Sounds to me, though, like he was just using his head.... hee hee

You can only have one of two things; either a ball thrown out of play (and all runners advance two bases), or interference on the batter; dead ball and, depending on the number of outs, either R3 "Out"; R2 returns and the batter remains at bat or the batter is out for the 3rd out.
Do I have that right? Jerry |

I had this happen......

Back door to third, off the helmet and into DBT. 2 runs scored and we went home early |

Case Book Rule 7.3.5 Situation E In your situation failing to move so F2 can make a throw is NOT batter interference.
