I understand your point. However, I spent a little time in pro-ball, and now call Div. I & II college baseball. I've called it twice in the past 3 years. (both Div. II games) 1 player missed it because he was celebrating a home run. The other was trying to score and direct the runner behind him at the same time. In both instances, the catcher saw it and appealed. I nailed them both because I was watching the touch.
I was taught to always see the touch of home. Hell, without it, the game would go on forever...LOL.
