Off Mngr in 3rd base coach box asks for and gets TIME. He comes down to confer with batter.
DURING this time, does the DEF Manager or coach have a right to a FREE trip out to the mound? Assuming that DEF coach can get out there, break, and return to dugout prior to end of OFFENSE conference. I understand in FED this is allowed, meaning not a charged conference. But my interest is under OBR. I say a trip is a trip. Even if we are stopped to watch the BLUE ANGELS fly overhead... a visit to the mound is a visit and is charged. Opinions, or better yet, is there a rule or interp on this? |

"Baseball Rule Differences", 2002. pg 88
In Fed do not charge the defense. In NCAA and OBR, Def is also charged with a conference. This is not true if def requests time for a conference and Off holds a conference that DOES NOT delay the game. |

There is no such thing as a FREE VISIT, Moose...........
Each trip is minimum of $5 cash ($10 during extra innings) collectable immediately in cash only---no checks. If they argue, let 'em know you learned it on the boards, so it must be right! That's why the PU carries those bags.........to hold the cash...... Freix |

I've had some defensive time outs that I found to be very offensive. I only let the defense have one of those per inning. If the offensive coach charges me during a time out, I don't let him come out of the dugout ever again during that game.
Jerry P.S. We're really helping the new guy, aren't we? |
