There's always a first

Maybe some of you have seen this, but I certainly have not. Unfortunately, I didn't work the game (I retired at the end of last season after 33 years), but a good buddy of mine did.

This game was played on a field with only a line demarcating out-of-play areas on the sidelines.

R1, R2. 1 out. B1 lofts fly ball and F1 comes in and settles under the horsehide. PU calls IF.

F2 also thinks he has a shot at the catch. Of course, he and F1 collide near the mound. The rock glances off F2's shinguard ...

... and rolls out of play.

Yikes!

Best to all,
Ace

"Infield Fly, the Batter's OUT!!!"

"You(R2) home plate. You (R1) third base."

Probably followed by WHOOSH. "Coach, you're done."
