I've been umping on many levels for 30 years, and I must say that the overall quality of umpiring has GREATLY improved over the past ten years. There are so many clinics with highly trained instructors out there, and they are being taken advantage of by new officials who want to improve and move up.
Kudos to those officials you saw for working hard to be good officials, and a big thanks to you for recognizing that. Not enough coaches do. JJ
