Hey, I am all for total ban of metal bats in place of wood and I always have been. But taking a shot in the head doesn't matter if the bat was metal or wood. A shot to the head is a shot to the head, period! It's kind of like getting hit in the head with a .45 cal as opposed to a .38 cal. It's going to damage you one way or another.

My contention of getting rid of metal bats is that wood is a true hit, metal is not. Metal bats go farther and harder, that is a proven fact. Also, metal bats (like metal woods in golf) have a correction factor - a large sweet spot. Wood bats require practice, practice, practice - something most people are not willing to do.

I'd love to see wood but I've heard that the new BBCOR standard bats are going to perform very similar to wood bats. The only advantage would be they will last longer.

You must be new. That's what they said about BESR. Why the need for new requirements? Were they mistaken? Could they still be mistaken? Hmmmmmmmmm?
