As this play was being discussed on tv, my boys and I had an interesting discussion on ejections, as of course we saw the Phillies Center Fielder get the heave-ho earlier in the week. What's the most bizarre/interesting ejection you've seen or been a part of?

The announcers at this game of course discussed the classics: Earl Weaver, Billy Martin, Lou Pinella, etc. (Heck, I've heard of coaches getting tossed while delivering the line-up card). But, their funniest example (IMO) was when one of the announcers said he was at a game when the umpire ejected the organist! He said after a "bad call" the organist started playing "three blind mice" and got tossed. Classic!

Others?

I was coaching a PONY tournament game on the road in Long Beach when the umpire had to eject and have the police come and remove his drunken wife, or perhaps ex-wife, who was behind the plate heckling him (a mild description), among other things. She was eventually dragged away and cuffed and stuffed into a patrol car, while the crowd, in a classy and sensitive move, actually gave the umpire some polite applause that slowly built up to an ovation. ... We coaches took it pretty easy on him, too. For the whole tournament.

Hitting coach fell on the sword so Vanover wouldn't find out who actually was barking and eject a player.

That's my take on it as well. Eckstein was definitely motioning toward himself like "I'm the one who said it" though replays clearly showed Morgan barking quite loudly at one point after the play. Once he got dumped I guess he figured he'd go out there and get his money's worth (and probably get fined in the process).
