Not trying to be a smart@$$ but how about after the first time telling the catcher, "You're squeezing me" and they'll give you the room you need. Most catchers know they're jeopardizing their zone when they squeeze you, but just don't realize that they are until you say something.

I tell them that they can do whatever their coach tells them to do, but when they set up [fill in spot] I can't really see the pitch...that way I'm not coaching the kids.

Had a partner last night in a high school freshman game that set up on the catcher's outside shoulder. I went to him between innings and asked him if he always did that. He said that when the catcher sets up inside he does. I told him to go up and back a bit like you guys have suggested, but that fell on deaf ears, although I didn't see him on the outside shoulder anymore.

He also didn't wear plate shoes, went to the C position in the field when we had a runner on base anywhere (His C position was almost directly behind the mound), and banged routine outs at first from the baseline like a close play at 2B on a steal. Smitty all the way.

I always enjoy watching those games...good humor.

Screaming foul ball on obvious out-of-play foul balls is another one of my favorites

I had to do this once. Catcher set up inside on nearly every pitch. He was a big, tall guy. In order to see over him, I had to stand upright, and couldn't see anything low at all. So, I moved over to other side - but that felt really uncomfortable. At least I could see the plate though. I didn't get any complaints, but it was still a LONG night for me. I hated it.
