Shoelace Lengths
This should be easier than taking the strings off and measuring:
What's the lace length for New Balance 450 and 995? |

That dude spends too much time thinkin' about shoelaces.

However, some of those lace designs would look great on my 995's. Should I go with yellow/white or pink/white? |
I bought 54" for my NB plate shoes. The factory ones were 53"...I couldn't find a 53"...those will do.
|
Count the number of eyes. Look on the back of shoe lace package. If you like them longer buy longer.

Easier? Maybe. Quicker? Hardly. |

I already took mine out and measured. Feel free to take my word for it. |
My only advice is to replace the laces on New Balance shoes as soon as you take them out of the box. Get some outdoor or sport laces (outdoor are stronger) and re-lace. The factory laces are horse ...

I use leather boot laces for my plate shoes. |
NB should be ashamed of the laces they put in those new shoes. It's like buying a Hummer and realizing it only has an AM radio!
|
It's America, right? Cheap is the order of the new millennium. It's more profitable to cut corners. Damn the consumer (sucker).
|
johnny - thanks for the answer on the plate shoes.
Does anyone have an answer for the base shoes? |

agree...they are cruddy |
They are terrible laces. Especially the plate shoe. Go to a military supply store. Buy some #5 black parachute chord. You can pull and pull and it wont break!

Why ask that question? If you have an extra 15 minutes (According to Finnerty) just pull the laces out and measure them. It really is not as complicated as you are making it. |
I once broke first the lace on one shoe, and then the other in the same sitting. Plate shoes. I began shoehorning them on at 1:35 p.m. By the time I had finished tearing both laces and re-lacing both shoes, it was 1:50 p.m. and I was supposed to be at the field. That was all the 15 minutes was about.
Try to re-lace two New Balance plate shoes in under 15 minutes and then get back to me. |
For what it's worth, I went to my local Red Wing boot center and got their waxed work boot laces for my NB 350's and 450's. They have held up for 2 seasons.

It was a simple question with what I thought was a simple answer. Apparently not. |

They don't come off as quickly as you'd guess. You can't just yank them from the bottom. But new ones go on quickly. I tried to make it realistic. I walked to my car and grabbed my bag and brought it in the house and up the stairs to my office. When I was done lacing them, I put them on and tied them, put the bag back in the car and then stopped the timer. |

A three page thread on shoe lace length.
...only on this website. |
I was going to start a new thread, but this kind of fits here.
What do you guys use to black out the "N" on the NB 450's and 350's? I did a search but didn't find much. Thanks. |

I'm thinking a Sharpie might work. I haven't worried too much about it...I know some groups are pretty strict about the "all black" fortunately our group doesn't care that much so I don't worry about it.

I guess most of the posters on this thread don't have games to work yet. Otherwise, three pages on shoelaces and sharpies? WTF? YGTBSM!
Man, you guys need to work some games, soon. At least no arguments or accusations yet. That usually flares up pretty often this time of year. Good luck in the upcoming season. Hope it gets here for you soon. |

Seems the folks are interested in starting/continuing the season with good, well recommended shoe laces. That is a good idea. |
