2 strikes on batter. Very inside pitch that make batter duck. Batter does not take his bat down with him and ball hits bat and rolls foul.

Is this a swing?

Bunt foul on 3rd strike?

How do you rule?

I've got a foul, batter still up......

It's a foul ball, luckily for the batter. If it had been fair, he's an easy out.

Check your book for the "bunt" definition, and you'll find a fall away from an inside pitch is not an attempted bunt.

Whowefoolin,
YU.P., what senior said.
If the batter doesn't "Offer", let's go foul.

It's a foul ball. It can't be a bunt because the batter must intentionally meet the ball with the bat for a bunt.

It's unanimous. Foul ball. Can't be a strike if he does not offer at it.

My question is, where is your question coming from? Did this happen to you?

So what exactly constitutes an offer?

I understand that in this case this is a foul ball.

mick, I was a "chuter" for Uncle Sam. No more, bad knee injury.

jumpmaster,
An offer? The batter is trying to touch the ball with the bat by some movement... almost any direction toward the ball. It's a judgement thing.
Sorry about the knee, but, "Thanks for being there for US. :)

finally!

Thanks for the info. I thought it was a judgement issue, but I had not been able to find anything to support that.

mick, thank you for your support.:)
