New 2009 BRD Questions

There was a time when a new release came out every year.
Will there be an updated 2009 release date? Yes or no.

Perhaps a new issue isn't needed each and every year.
Is there a need for an updated 2009 release? Yes or no.

Does the size of the BRD, not being 8.5 by 11, really matter? Yes or no.

Any chance of combining a Jim Evans product with an Officiating.com membership offer? Yes or no.
Ex 1. $30 balk video and one-year offer
Ex 2. $60 umpire mechanics book and two-year offer

Membership info: http://shop.officiating.com/

I hope Officiating.com doesn't mind answering some tough questions like these.

Since Jim Evans owns a competing umpiring website/discussion board at which he offers discounts on merchandise with membership, I doubt this will happen here.

More than I expected

ABUA has JEA pasted all over their website. I never thought of JEA as an insurance guy.
A matter of time before NCAA/EASports publishes their training guides.
NFHS went into the publishing business. Amazon.com: Rules By Topic: Baseball 2008: National Federation of State High School Associations: Books
Why can’t they come to some agreement like ABUA has, or bury the hatchet?
The printed material is small potatoes to ANNUAL website membership fees.

You don't get it...Evans bought ABUA.

Jim Evans is all over the ABUA site because he now owns the ABUA site.

Selling a dream

How many quality products does this website offer an umpire?
The price of membership gains "accessibility" to an internet database.
I am one of many officials demanding internet services.
Am I willing to pay $50 to $90 for 1 annual website subscription?
I haven't spent a dime on JEA material.
I haven't renewed my Officiating.com membership in 2 years.
So I join OC again and JEA sells a video/book. Did it hurt anybody?

Beats me. Are you?

That partially explains some of your weirder posts.

I'm sure you've been misssed.

Evans would either have to give up some of his profit to OC for their services, or OC would have to mark the book up and charge their members more than Evans is charging ABUA members.

Do you have some notion that businesses need to operate in your best interests instead of theirs?

Or, is all of this the result of you falling off the wagon for the holidays?

Seems everyone is cutting deals except the ones who stand to gain the most.
Really?

From Ebay:

"0 results found for Jim Evans Annotated rules baseball"
"0 results found for Jaska Roder"

If any have been sold, they were sold by private previous owners, not the authors or publishers. They are not cutting deals on Ebay. How far are you willing to stretch reality and ignore common business practice to attempt to prove an invaild point?

Pour another one.

I was given mine free by an ML umpire who is an acquaintance. Why is that important to you? Neither what you or I or anyone pays for the MLBUM has any bearing on where Evans should sell his works or what OC should offer.

You show no understanding of business matters.

Perhaps it will all make sense in the morning...after a bit of the hair of the dog, of course.

Try spelling his name correctly. Better, click this link to go directly to the item.

And note that "smart" is part of "smartazz."

Latest MLBUM?

Where there any significant differences in the MLBUM from 2007 to 2009?

If so, which MLBUM incorporated the rule changes accepted by MLB?
A) 2007, B) 2008, C) 2009

Thank you for pointing out my error. While I will concede that someone is selling their J/R (not for 9.99 as alleged), this does nothing to address the point I was making. But thanks again.

Simple: OC publishes the BRD and as such pays a fraction of the retail price as an actual cost when someone subscribes to the paid side.

Products from Evans or anyone else would carry a far higher cost to OC, making it much less attractive.

I suspect that most paid subscriptions from baseball umpires were as a result of the BRD deal. For me simply not enough meat on the paid side to warrant the expense otherwise.

You're welcome. And, if the erroneous info from eBay does nothing to address the point you were trying to make, why include it at all?
