I hear a former minor league AAA guy retained counsel and is going after a high power east cost assigner.... "You know the guy that makes you buy those awesome pants!"

Is Saddam going down? I think that may be a good thing!!!!

Did the Steven Tyler on this board write the song in your signature?

By the way, here is a picture of a scuttlebut for absolutely no reason:

No, I believe a real person named Steven Tyler, of the world-famous rock band, Aerosmith penned the song, along with his lead guitarist, Mr. Joe Perry. The song was only written back in 1975. I'm surprised you've never heard of it.

The best thing to come from Steve Tyler is his daughter Liv. Dream On! (which is an even better song, imo).

That's THE SCUTTLEBUTT", a boat. A 'scuttlebutt' is a naval term for a driking fountain. It's also a popular term for a rumor, such as, "Scuttlebutt has it we're having SOS for breakfast tomorrow".

What's up with Zibelli? My understanding is that he assigns several NCAA conferences in the Eastern US. Don't know why a AAA guy would be talking to him as he would probably be busy with MiLB games all season.

I agree--Saddam was bad for umpires. He was bad for most everyone in his country.

Back to what we were discussing--I like SDSteve's pick, but then Celebur reminded me of "Dream On": I love that chorus! This is a tough call.

keyword is former. i know the guy. i have heard some rumblings about some things, but i haven't heard anything about retaining counsel. that, however, only means that i haven't heard, not that it hasn't happened. not sure what retaining counsel would do for him, though. saddam is an interesting beast. some of his umpires swear by him, some of them swear about him (not at him, cuz he'd yank their schedule...)

zibelli

is the former AAA ump - CH?? if so, i think what happened was that he joined Nicks organization and then got stuck with a shxx schedule his first year and then quit. i'm sure he expected that his experience would allow him to bypass the regular route to primo D1 games. nicks controls all of the D1 in the northeast and 90% of D2 and D3. you work by his rules, or you don't work.

Except for an odd fill-in here and there I don't do college ball any longer and don;t have a dog in this hunt. I will say that from the information received from various sources that the should a case be filed in the right court for the right reasons Zibelli and CBUA would be toast.

That's as far as I'm going to go, at least until I'm sure that no close friends are going to be mixed up in any court cases.
