Please assist me with this scoring/statistics issue. Runners on first and second with two out. Batter hits grounder which hits the runner advancing toward second. Third out is called and the inning is over. Is this scored as a single for the batter? How is the out entered in the stats? Is it treated as the runner being "picked off" or what? Thanks.

Give a put out to nearest fielder. Mark it up as interference in notes. Batter credited with base hit.

I once umpired a no hitter with bases loaded and the third out of the 7th was made by the ball hitting the runner between 2nd and 3rd. Bases loaded two outs. High School var. Your correct the batter is credited with a base hit however, I was'nt about to even suggest that to anyone.
