Cool

Please help clarify/confirm call made.

Runner on 1st one out. Batter hits ground ball up the middle. Second baseman makes diving stop of ball. With ball in right hand touches base with left-glove hand.

Out or safe?

In review of OBR, runner is out if defensive touches base on force. Is touching base with non-ball hand same as touching base with feet? I called him out.

Thanks for your help.

Out

This is an out.

"A TAG is the action of a fielder in touching a base with the body while holding the ball securely and firmly in the hand or glove..."

Note that the base must be touched by the body, not necessarily by the hand/glove containing the ball. If you think about it, this is no different than touching the base with a foot while holding the ball in the hand/glove.

Out. You don't have to touch with your foot. Myth #31

The requirement for the tag of a base is "with the body while holding ths ball in the glove or hand"

If you tag the runner, it must be with the hand (or glove) that is actually holding the ball.
