I know it is a delayed dead ball.... but does that constitute the runner being out?
And can you give me the rule reference??? All I find is delayed dead ball, which says nothing about the runner being out (I don't think).' Thanks |
I don't have my rulebook handy to give a rule but that's a delayed dead ball, team warning, and ejection for subsequent infractions.

And the batter is NOT OUT. Correct??? (Given the batter isn't already out, which is why most batters/runners remove their helmet while still on the field of play in the first place).
Thanks. |
That's correct. The runner is not declared out for removing his helmet during a live ball. If he is on base at the end of playing action, after the warning has been issued and the ejection is in effect, just have him replaced by a legal sub.
The penalty can be found in 1-1-5. Roger Greene |

On his way to first base he removes his helmet to give it to the on-deck batter. RULING: This is a delayed dead-ball situation. At the end of playing action, B4 is not declared out . If a team warning previously had been given to that team, B4 would be ejected. Pete Booth |
