MLB Rule Book

Does anyone know if/when/where the new MLB Rules book will be out and where it can be obtained? Thanks. Oh, if MLB Rules are available online, that may suffice.

The only problem with PDF is that you cannot cut and past when answering a thread as one could do utilizing the old format.

You mean like this?

We recognize that many amateur and non-professional organizations play their games under
professional rules, and we are happy to make our rules available as widely as possible. It is
well to remember that specifications as to fields, equipment, etc., may be modified to meet
the needs of each group.

I do have acrobat - not just the reader.

johnnyg08 Tue Feb 05, 2008 06:56pm

Copied and pasted from the pdf format using reader. You can do it...

6.01
(a) Each player of the offensive team shall bat in the order that his name appears in his
team’s batting order.

Use the cursor/arrow button and scroll over what you're copying, then paste it in here, just like the old format.

JJ there are no pictures in a rule book, stick with your comic books!!!!!

Copying and pasting using Acrobat Reader is possible, and easy.... if you have a recent version. You need at least V 7. Older versions did not allow one to copy text from PDFs.

You can print the PDF, scan it to a Word or .txt file, then easily cut-paste. By why should we have to do so? How much money does MLB make off the OBRs compared to legal counsel to keep their butts covered when their cheating superstars get caught junking drugs?

The lack of free rules to any official or fan is another bullet point in the sickness of professional baseball.

Last time I checked I wasn't charged anything to access the rules on MLB.com...I'm pretty sure they're free.

John, how soon do you need it? I can send you one when I get my association's bulk order in. We order a batch each year and send a complimentary copy to each of our guys, particularly those who work mid- to upper-level ball.

UMP25 Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:08am

Updated: The books are scheduled to ship March 15th.

JJ Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:11pm

Thanks for the offer and the info - one of the guys I umped with in Venezuela asked me to send him two copies. I sent off the one copy I had that was a couple of years old, but I do want to send him new copies when I can get my hands on them. Is Triumph still the publisher?

Yes they are. The cost is $9.95 each. We get them for around $4 each. Remind me to send you one when they come out next month.
