Starting pitcher reentering the game to pitch??
 

Can The starting pitcher reenter the game to pitch? would this be allowed at any level of play?

I was doing this game about a week ago and Lucky I had the bases because I didnt know the rule. It was a tournament and the kids were about 14 or so. Any way this kid starts the game and then he later comes back in to pitch. I had no clue but the other coach got upset. Well luckily it was a tournament and there was a TD he said it was ok.

He came onto the field and made the call for us! what do you think about that? should we let that happen? Luckely I did not have the plate because I wouldn't know what to do!

I guess I would encourage you to buy a rule book for every level you work.

In kiddie ball, F1 will sometimes swap with F6 (usually the 2 kids with the best arms), and in many leagues they can switch back.

Under FED, the pitcher has re-entry privileges (with restrictions).

So in High school he can stop pitching and then comeback into pitch later in the same game???? It was the same game not a double header. and can you do that in college and in pro ball?

Agreed on answer 2, if the player has left the game.

If the player leaves the mound but remains in the game, he can return to pitch (under some restrictions).

so if he comes out of the game then he can't come back in. How many times can they do this and does he get 8 warm up pitches? so could the have a lefty and a righty and pitch them in certain spots? just switch them out when ever?

I think this is a bad rule!! and needs to be taken out of the book

In MLB, pitching is very specialised, so you don't see pitchers moving to another fielding position and then back again. But just because you don't see it doesn't mean that it isn't allowed.

So long as the former pitcher is still in the game (hasn't been subbed) and hasn't been ruled ineligible to pitch, there is no rule that says he can't return to pitch again. Therefore, he can.

I did not know that so you can keep switching? How many times an inning can this be done?

I live in Covina and no I did not know this could be done. I worked the MSBL WS this year I just got back.

Umm, that would be so long as the player is still in the game and has not been ruled ineligible to pitch. Which is what I said in my previous post.
