Tim.

We already know the reason why it should be called in a FED game...because the FED likes to coddle the kids and not let them just play ball.

I admit that I'm not any kind of NCAA rules expert, but I tend to agree with Bob J. on this one.

What he quoted is basically a definition of INT. That's an offensive violation. OBS is defensive. The fact that it's mentioned to include verbal in INT, I would personally interpret that to include OBS on the defense. Based strictly on what has been posted.

Correct me if that's wrong. I will look into the NCAA rule book this weekend to see if it spells anything out.

I'd change it to "stop it in FED and ignore it in ncaa". You don't want to have to enforce this.

Of course, F5 will just claim that he's telling F6 to play deeper. ;)

Probably not allowed by rule in FED, but the enforcement will vary based on the norms in your area.

Exactly what Bob says is how I've handled this for years. Never any complaints and takes care of the situation.

Thanks
David

I agree with you to try to put a stop to it before it becomes an issue, Bob. But , in my opinion, if it effects the outcome of a play, we should enforce it.

Tim.
