That's the way it's supposed to be done. David Thom is an umpire who works LL, not a LL umpire.

Hopefully, LL will use more such umpires in the future.

What I'm finding hard to understand is that this is what they all should look like...granted this guy did a nice job (so you all say)...but he simply is doing his job as I'm sure he does the other 90 or so games he probably works in a season...yep, it's great...but isn't that what you'd expect at a big game such as this? Not taking anything away from him...but I think he gets the point that he did a nice job and made a "good call" but what the phrase we all use in officiating..."we're only as good as our next ________"

Dave is one of my best friends, but he'd probably tell you that this wasn't a big deal. It wasn't even close :)

I was just sorry he didn't get the championship plate. After working probably over a 100 to 150 games with Dave the past 5 seasons, I'm confident he was the best choice. They didn't ask me, though.

I'm glad he's home, though, cause I need my regular line judge on Friday night. He calms me down when the white hat starts turning into a red a$$.
