The Carded Coach
This was priceless! I was doing a 8 - 9 year old All Star tournament. I was wearing a new shirt, which does not have my state patch sewn on. The batter squares to bunt, bunts the ball, which rebounds and hits the bat (still in hands), while the batter is still in the box. "Foul!" The defensive coach asks for time and says, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, he struck the ball twice, he's automatically out. It doesn't matter where he is!" I tried to explain the rule to him at which time he said, "Stop, I'm a carded umpire so you don't need to explain anything to me! But I guess guys like you have to learn at this level!"

Please tell me you ran him.

I agree, PLEASE PLEASE tell us you dumped him.
I don't know what carded means, but I DO know what ejected means. He went well beyond the leash he might have gotten up to that point in the game. |
I hope to God you gave him his "card" and I hope it was "RED".

First, as a carded ump, he should know the rule.
Second, as an ump he should know better than to treat another umpire with such disrespect. |

I had a game wherre the coach pull that crap on me, "I am a college umpire and that was the worste call I've ever seen..."
"Well then as an umpire you will not be surprised at what happens next." |
