Hey ggk, I went with pro nine this yr. I have yet to take a good shot in the chest. I have however taken a foul ball on the shoulders and felt a little pain. The only reason I went with this one because I needed one fast. I used to wear the douglas chest protector, but I kept over heating during the hot summer days. I am going to move up to the Honigs elite next yr and use the pro nine for back up. Nothing against the pro nine chest protector, I just think the Honigs is alot better. just my opinion

Purchase Officials is a great house for shoes, pants, shirts, and masks. But the ProNine will not stand up to decent high school varsity, much less and college ball. See if they distribute Wilson or can order for you and pop for the Gold or Platinum. Sweat a little in big ball - it beats the injuries you WILL have. Two game fees and you're in a top hardshell. And set for years at the upper levels.

I use the pro nine for FED ball, Legion ball, and Men's League ball...I've taken a few shots to the chest and haven't felt a thing...I will say, like the above post, that it's a little vulnerable up around the shoulder/collarbone area...to be honest, i can take a very little bruise for the overall lightweight protection...but if you do a lot of college DII and up, you might go w/ the other guys on here...because I don't work above D3 and JuCo yet...

I have had the Pro nine protector for three years now and it has held up to every shot. I work legion to LL ball and it has been fine for protection even with some DII kids throwing for the Legion teams.

Hey all,

As a former user of the Pro-Nine, BUY A HARD SHELL!! From my experience, this cp shouldn't be used for any thing over LL Minors, maybe Majors.
