He will not mention it . . . Part 2

One of our more controversial posting members at this site has been selected to work the dish at our State Championship 6A (Oregon's largest schools) this Saturday.

Congratulations! to REI who posts here often.

He is a valuable member of both our local high school and college associations.

Congratulations, I'm sure you'll do a great job.

I guess again I wasn't clear but the congratulations wasn't for the poster but for REI for whom this thread is for.

I've never seen anyone use WHOM correctly, and STILL end the sentence with a preposition. Nice. ;)

Maybe Paul McCartney is his ghostwriter.

I got lucky and drew the long straw this year! ;)

Congrats to REI, and to all the other officials who worked any level of post-season play.

That's the "external" recognition for what you've done. Equally important ins the "internal" recognition -- if you are a better umpire this year than you were last year, then yuo deserve credit and recognition for making yourself better.

Rich Sat Jun 02, 2007 09:36am

My congrats, too. I can now pick you out of a lineup, REI, if necessary :)

On my last visit to PDX, I saw some PBUA umpires work and had some beers with a big group of them after their first round playoff games. A great organization and great bunch of guys (and umpires). I also watched Tim C put in a stellar plate performance in a game that would never end.

Tim C Sat Jun 02, 2007 09:57am

Rich,

Not every playoff game is 21-4.

Thanks for the visit -- we have an opening for you!

I'm only 47% plates this season, but I worked a bunch of 3-man games. Hard to be much over 50% when you work mostly doubleheaders.

I'll catch up, though. Plate tomorrow, plate Tuesday. Rained out today.

Bob Jenkins was select to work the Illinois AA state finals. Congrats Bob

That's the other thread. Bob also worked an NCAA D-III conference tourney this season.

UMP25 Sat Jun 02, 2007 11:07am

Indeed, the NAC. I was hoping he would've worked the CCIW Tourney with me. Maybe HE could've had the padded room game then, and not me. :D
