BTW, why no mention of the irrefutable fact that Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are also experiencing "Global Warming"? It is easy to see what the common denominator is among Earth and the aforementioned 4 planets, and the only thing that can affect climate on a planetary scale: the sun. Now, back to this freezing, "Global Warming is the cause of the cold" weather we're having here. |

The debate is over the cause. Quote:
Unfortunately, what is "easy to see" does not always turn out to be a factor. That truth is tormenting both sides of the issue. Regarding Chicago weather. Chicago's April temperature extremes: Based on official records dating from 1871, Chicago's temperatures in April have ranged from 91 (April 22, 1980, and April 30, 1942) to 7 (April 7, 1982). Chicago has experienced below freezing weather as late as May 15. |

Hey all,
Global Warming HAS NOT been proven to exist! I remember hearing about a study done a few years ago that in the cities, i.e., places that have grown in population and have tons of concrete, asphalt, and the like, over the past @100 years temperatures have risen. BUT, in the areas that are still in the same condition as the were @100 years ago, such as area throughout the midwest, TX, OK, mountainous regions, etc. the temperature has actually DECLINED! I remember being told this by an instructor at the Weather Forecasting School for the US (as well as other countries) military. I was in the weather career field for 10 years in the USAF. It was also explained how the "hole in the ozone" over Antarctica probably does not exist, and how CFC's from the northern hemisphere DO NOT play a role the the "deterioration" of the ozone. Al Gore was stupid enough to say so himself while giving a speech. @15 years ago, a volcano in the southern hemisphere erupted. AL Gore said that the ash and sulfer and all the other nice things that come from a volcano could not affect the ozone because of the upper level winds would prevent all those things from reaching that high into the atmosphere. So, we are supposed to believe that exhaust from a car, cfc from a spray can, cow farts(methane), or other dastardly chemical is supposed to come from your town in North America somewhere and cross the equator, where the trade winds do not allow much mixing of air masses between the northern and southern hemispheres, then travel to the South Pole area, and rise up the deplete the ozone when a volcano that is in the southern hemisphere BLASTS it's innards STRAIGHT UP in the sky, won't have it's contents reach the ozone because of upper level winds? This is still on topic because isn't it the ozone "hole" that is causing global warming? And isn't it funny how a majority, I don't remember the % off hand, of the earth's population live in the northern hemisphere and the ozone hole is in the southern? TRUTH BE TOLD.... Scientists are not the people that are pushing the global warming issue. It is politicians that have something to gain in the forms of donations, kickbacks, pork, restrictive legislation, or other things that are going out and pushing their own agenda. Predominantly Democrats, some Republicans, but it is on BOTH side of the isle. rant off LomUmp:cool: |
