To Cut or Not To Cut...
How many of you wear shin guards with the metatarsal plate? Does the plate actually afford any extra protection to your foot if you have plate shoes on?
I have metatarsal plates on my shin guards and i'm debating whether or not to cut them off for looks. The only reason i'm wavering is because i wonder if it's offering any protection at all- my plate shoes are low tops (tanel 360) and i wonder if it would expose the top of my ankle at all. Will it cause the cuffs of my pant legs to hit the dirt if i cut the metatarsal off? So... cut or no cut? |

i use high top spotbilt shoes and the gerry davis or wilson shin guards..i cut the oiece that goes over the top of the foot off on both of them as the shoe has the plate to protect,On my davis i also cut the ankle pads of as my high tops feel like that is enough protection. I just want my shins and knees covered, i hope my shoes due the rest...

Boss, with those low top Tanels, you may want to keep the flaps. They aren't the big, ostentatious ones on the 3409's either. If you cut them off, there may be a coverage gap between the metatarsal plate of the shoe, and where the shinguard begins. Could get a big "ouch."
