Best Fed Test Yet

We had to turn in our NFHS Part 1 Tests at tonight's meeting.

After discussing the test with several others in our association, we seem to agree that this was the best written test so far.

The questions were well phrased, concise, not misleading.

We didn't see the typical "trick" question that used obscure wording to trip up the test taker. It's as if they figured out the test was being taken by people who really do want to know the rules, and view the testing process as as a means to that end. There was not the typical discouragement of feeling like it was impossible to get 100%

So, job well done by the NFHS people.

I thought it was a pretty good exam. I did it last night and I caught a few questions that I thought you had to be careful with...other than that, seemed like a pretty good one!

This is good to hear. The usual discouragement leaves me angsty for weeks.

83 is a stupid question. I missed 72 the first time through cause it's an obscure rule change.

My association has to do the test on-line this year. Went through last year's practice for the on-line and I wasn't happy with the format. If you accidentally click the wrong answer or wrong question it's TS! Once checked. it all over. So not only do you have to be careful with the answer, you have to be careful what you are doing on the computer too!

Does anyone have the test and answers on their computer? Send me a PM if you do.

Note: not using this to cheat since neither my state nor my association require re-testing each year

No retesting? Boo. 90% every year or no Fed status for you here.

Our association requires 75% or better to get post season games, along with some other criteria.

Any score, just turn in a test, to work games.

Very weak, in my opinion.

Test Scores

Here in Illinois, the IHSA has three levels of umpiring, Registered (the lowest), recognized then certified. They require a grade of 80% or better to become licensed. If you want to "go up the ladder" to recognized, 85% on Part one, open book and 85% on Part two (open book) with a 2 hour time limit. To go from Recognized to Certified (the highest), at least 90% on part one and 85%or better on Part two, closed book with a two hour time limit. You also need evaluations from Ad's/coaches stating why you should not be promoted.
