Interesting Throw Around

Had an adult team today that had a different throw around than I have seen.

Whenever a lone runner was retired at 1st base, F3 would throw to F2, who would throw to F5, who would throw to F1.

The first time it happened, I almost walked into the throw. I asked the catcher if they always did that, to which he responded yes. I avoided the throw for the rest of the game, but is sure was weird.

Another funny thing the catcher (coach) did...If he thought one of his infielder's was sleeping between pitches (with no runners), instead of throwing to the pitcher, he would throw to that infielder. It didn't really slow the game down, and only happened a couple of times, so I never said anything about it, because the game was moving along quite quickly in general.

When I was a kid in the early 1960's watching major league games, I remember that the first baseman would start throwing the ball around by throwing to the catcher. However, the catcher would then throw to 2B, then SS, then 3B, then back to the pitcher. Also, after a K, the catcher would throw to 3B, and the ball going all the way around the IF. The 1B would throw back to C standing in front of the plate. He would then throw back to 3B and finally back to P.

I had an interesting "throw around" in an American Legion game yesterday...

Batter K's- F2 throws to F7->F4->F1.

Interestingly, after the second time the defense did this, the coach wouldn't let them throw around anymore...

i wouldnt let it go either. huge waste of time.

you know what the difference between a 2:30 game and a 2:10 game is? an extra minute between half innings. add idiots throwing the ball into the outfield, and you've got yourself a long day.
