Tulsa article

He's probably got the fan sentiment right. I went to a game last night and there were a few bangers but no arguments. Fans hardly pay attention to the game so I'm not surprised they would miss when the umps don't get a rotation right.

Surprisingly there was a local umpire association having a night out at the ballpark.

Fans pay attention to the game, they just don't pay attention to the umpires. The only rotations they care about are on their tires. The only fans that pay attention to the umpires are other umpires, like us.

Just curious, did the umpire association behave themselves, or did they act like idiots and yell "scab" at the replacements? I'll bet they were gentlemen, and not acting "professionally."

The PA announcer recognized the umpire association as one of the groups attending, but I couldn't tell you where they sat. I guess they were having too much fun eating and tossing back a few cold ones.

Steve is right! I was at an A's game a few years back with a group from work. On a routine fly ball with runner's on, I got up and cheered!! They looked at me like was nutz when I yelled.. "Great rotation blues". U1 turned to me and smiled!

I also got a good deal of respect when during an argument Larry Rothchild was ejected, and I called exactly when and how he would be tossed. The folks from work started asking me to pick lottery numbers...haha!!
