How much do you get paid?

I posted a thread the other day entitled JV Coaches! In it I made reference to how much I made for the DH. The thread turned into a forum on how much each one of us is paid in different states. Some of the posters didn't say where they were from. Lets use this thread to compare each others pay rates. I'll start. I work primarly B,C & D varsity & JV in Northern Michigan. I receive from $65 for a DH to $80 plus mileage for a DH. That is before taxes. Travel up here can range up 100 miles one way although that is rare. Most of the time I am traveling 30 to 40 miles one way. The schools set the rates and we either accept the contract or send it back. No one ever promised me a rose garden.:o

I do not take games where travel is more than 40 miles round trip (unless it's a DH) because our 'cheap' association doesn't pay mileage. We were told that our 'new' contract will give us a $4 per game raise (up to $61 per game) but no mileage pay. At about $3.10 per gallon it ain't cheap to drive to games in my umpmobile.

I will take a HS game further away if I can schedule another game (Adult League) on the way home (but never more than 60 miles RT). I'm able to do this a couple of times per week so I'll drive further on those days.

Texas high school - $40/game, $0.48/mile round trip, $10 meal. The driver takes 3/4th of the milage, passenger gets 1/4. Tomorrow I have a game that I'll make $165 and my partner will make $90. Thats the extreme high end for us. Saturday I'll make $75 for a game plus milage.

In my area of OK, you normally always do a doubleheader. A 7 inning V and a 5 inning JV. Pay is 90 bucks with no mileage.

Echo this from KY but my brother works in the Louisville area and is paid more and is paid mileage. I can work a DH and get paid 90 and he will get 120.00 plus mileage. I think a lot has to do with the schools funding. I guess I need to move in with him or quit whinning all the time. You would think a state would pay the same across the board.

Arizona $43.00, plus .40 cents per mile I believe, and 100 mile one-way trips are very common north of Phoenix. Next year AZ gets a $5/game raise in all sports.

Around in my area, it's any where from 40-55 for one varsity game. Double headers they usually pay 65-75. I did hear just today that a school is paying 35 for varsity baseball.

Last Thursday, the local Fed assigner was having a hard time finding someone to do a middle school girls' softball single game tomorrow (Friday, April 21), one man, for $72. Game time 3:45 p.m., with a 5:00 p.m. drop dead time limit.

Last I heard, he still had no takers.

wow, you guys make way more than us. Here in Bellingham, wa (next to canada) we make:

55.00 - HS varsity

43.00 - HS JV

45.00 - HS C single

40.00 - HS C

Babe ruth is done by kids with little or no experience umpiring. We get a travel fee, but it is flat rate, included in the above pay. We do weekend tournaments for U16 & U18 that are traveling teams who are actually good. These pay 40.00/game, and you do three games straight usually, but the games are 7 inning with a 2 hr time limit, and we get free food.
