All I can say is, with the way gas prices are these days, no one can say that officials of any sport just do this for the money.....

In Southern Illinois:
Many single HS games pay $35-40 Some bigger schools pay $45-55 for conference single games Some Saturday DH's pay from $90-100 They never pay travel. That is the umpires job to determine whether it is "worth it" to travel to the field or just not take the game. For reference these same HS's pay around $45-$55 a game for basketball referees both JV and Varsity. Definitely not a way to get rich being an umpire/referee in this part of the country. |
I posted this in the last thread, put I'll put it here again.
Statewide in New Hampshire, V $74 with a partner JV $52 with a partner we rarely have a game alone, but the rate for those is a fee and a half. Babe Ruth locally is $40 |
In Tennessee for high school ball:
Varsity -- $55/game, $75/DH (2 games w/ same 2 teams) JV, Middle School and other local rates are set by each individual umpires' association. Ours (Knoxville) are: JV -- $40/game, $65/DH JV solow -- $45/game And everything is going up by $5.00 next year, according to the TSSAA. |
In Northern Illinois:
My association pay $53 for varsity single and $93 for DH ($66/$107 solo), frosh-soph is $50/$97 for one-man (there are no two-man underclass games here). Summer ranges from $46 - $65 depending on level (10 y/o to 28+ MSBL) |
I work the highest level of regular baseball played in Queensland Australia
We get $AU40 for a plate, $AU35 for a base. No other allowances are paid. No other games are paid. |
