Question

Is a batter out if they carry the bat to first base with them?

Tee,
Perhaps Paul thought the rules would somehow be "different" here. Coaches..... sheesh!

Tee,

Thanx for being the "watch dog" that lets us know where others post.

Without you, we would believe everyone was solely restricted to this board!

I don't think that carrying the bat to the base is illegal. He can hold onto it as long as he wants. My opinion only.

Have a little more confidence in your "opinions" there, Greg! "The batter is not out" is a little different than "I like the taste of oranges."

In any case, we might penalize the batter if his actions are unsportsmanlike--for example, he might have a use in mind for that bat!

Have a little more confidence in your opinions there, Pat!If you think that he is going to hit someone over the head with a bat, then maybe you should call the police rather than just ejecting him.

Indeed! For all the violence I've heard about in sports, I'm pleased we don't hear more horror stories involving bats. That's a very deadly weapon!
