In the 9th inning last night, didn't Uribe fall into the stands as he caught that pop foul? I was waiting for the umps to award 3B to the runner.

Wish he did, but he didn't. He landed on the wall, and was contacting the stands, but he was not out of play, and got out on his own without stepping out of play.

I don't think so.
I think they made the right call last night. Had Uribe left the laying field entirely, I'm sure they would have applied rule 7.04(c). He only hung on the wall for a second with part of his upper body in DBT. At least that's what I saw. Tim. |

Uribe never left the playing field, as I saw it. I also breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the replay on the banger at first that ended the game. Cederstrom nailed it, and Joe Buck actually said..."great call by Cederstrom". Imagine that.

So refreshing

They might miss a few, but the majority of the time they are right on. Forget all those who think instant replay would do anything to add to the game. Thanks David |

I wasn't wondering whether he was in the stands or not I was wondering what were the fans thinking? They should have grabbed his arm, dove for the ball anything to keep him from making the play. Where's Bartman when you need him!!! LOL.

It looked to me like there were a couple of fans trying to pry the ball loose from Uribe, but they failed.
brian, I agree. It did sound like Buck was dissing the umpires with a sarcastic reply, like "wow, what a surprise, the umpire got one right for a change." I think the way they treated the umpires this post-season was disgraceful, and unfortunately, the fans eat that stuff up, and we'll be subject to Buck and McCarver for years to come.

Nelson was U3, who made the call on the foul ball in the stands. Cederstrom was U1, who nailed the banger at 1st.
IMHO, Houston needs to better train their fans on how to strip a ball. BP
