This happened in a game that I played when I was in high school.. it was a sectional semi-final game.
The other team wrote the wrong jersey number down on the lineup card for one player.. When he came up to bat.. my coach spotted this and brought this to the attention of the plate umpire. I do not remember exactly what happened at that point.. until the top of the 7th, runners on 1st and 2nd.. same kid up to bat.. still wearing the wrong jersey.. hits a base hit.. ties the game up.. now my coach comes out and says something again.. umpire ruled batter was out.. runners went back.. next kid up lined into a DP..
what would you all rule on this...
The umpire behind the plate had to make another tough call a week before this in the league championship game.. fly ball to left.. runner on third scores the apparent winning run in the bottom of the 7th.. but her left too soon.. had to clear the dog pile from home plate.. and finish the game...
these umpires are now the umpires that i work with.. they dont let me forget either of these plays..
