The September 26th issue of Sports Illustrated has a small article about the filming of a movie called "Off the Black". Nick Nolte is said to play a high school umpire. The item is in the "The Beat" column on page 36

The article states Nolte spent some time with a minor league director of baseball operations learning how umpires are expected to handle them selves.....anyone heard anything about this?

Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots welcomed acting great Nick Nolte to Commerce Bank Ballpark on Thursday, September 8th.

Nolte will be starring as an umpire in “Off The Black” due out next year. Nolte and the producers of the film decided to get some lessons from Patriots coaches on the ins and outs of umpiring.
