i welcome any thoughts on the best plate pants out there. i'm tall and thin - 6'1 - 170# - i'm using the cliff kleen pleated combo plate now, but i don't think the leg is big enough. i'm considering Fechheimer Plate - flat front. any thoughts? thanks.

ggk, I use the Honigs B-8 combo pleated pants and love them. I am bigger than you at 6'- 220, but I have plenty of room to work the plate in these pants. The nice thing about buying equipment from Honigs is the fact that they readily accept returns on equipment or apparrel that you haven't used. You can access them online at: http://www.honigs.com Good luck! Tim. |
Just an opinion:
Invest in base pants and plate pants. DO NOT buy combo pants as they look horrible.
Do not buy pleated pants if you are the least bit heavy (see my column on the paid side of this site). Last, if you really want good pants (not "easy care" pants) then buy wool or at least a wool poly blend. Of course this is just my opinion . . . of course some consider me a "Gear Junky" since I carry 47 different shirts to all games. L&K, T |
I wear the Honig's B2AP Athletic Cut Pleated plate pants. I haven't had any problems with them. I consider myself somewhat of a junky, I only have 6 shirts, but I'm always looking to add new ones!

If you have thicker legs, then your legs will fill out the pant better on the bases, but if you try to put shin guards on, the pant will become too tight. If you have small legs, then the pants will look baggy on the bases, but shin guards will fill them out and they will look fine. |

And yes Luke, I am in the "skinny" category. |
I have base pants and then combos for the plate. I use the Cliff Keens, Honings and 1 other brand that I think is Dalco but not positive. I like the Honigs best. Pleated. My biggest problem right now is I have dropped about 35 pounds and a pant size so I have to reinvest sooner as a result.

Geee,
If I lost 35 pounds I would only need to lose 35 more!

I lost 40 pounds over the last year (although close to 10 of them I have recently found again) but I wouldn't recommend my "diet" to anyone. :)
