I don't think you read the post correctly. The poster wasn't commenting on any action by the umpire, he was questioning if the uumpire could have done something to penailze the batter/runner.

I did read his post right, and even said that the umpire's ruling was ridiculous. Gotta protest when that happens.

mcrowder - I think you are still missing it. The way I read it, xray4506 was on defense and his pitcher walked in the winning run. The batter taunted the defense and xray4506 wants him called out for the taunting.

Personally, I'd like to see this idiot's actinos cost his team a game. It says that he approached the other team's dugout, could you maybe bang him for not going directly to first base? Probably not, but I'm just throwing things out here. Like I said, would love to see this idiot cost his team a game.

There was NO ruling by the umpire.
What rule are you protesting - the walk the umpire issued?

There is no protest here.
Even if the umpire decides to toss the guy for UC, it will be after the game winning run walks in anyway.

To answer the post, the loss is valid.
The umpire could toss the B/R for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, but that comes after the walk and the winning run scores. Unfortunately this idiot gets to let the winning run score either way, but I am with gsf23.
I would like to stick around and watch this guys teammates when they see HIS actions cost them the game.
But that is not to be in this instance.
Too bad though.

My bad! I thought init poster lost because PU called this player out - an absurd ruling. Instead, poster was trying to get the absurd ruling. My bad! So sorry. Many humble apologies. :)

Rich, are you sure the ball must be dead for an umpire to eject a player? Is there a rule in the book for this? I guess if a kid walks, takes a few steps towards first base, turns around and tells me I'm f'ing terrible, I'm not waiting for him to get to first base before I dump him. He's gone and the replacement can finish his jog to 1st base.

...(d) Each umpire has authority to disqualify any player, coach, manager or substitute for objecting to decisions or for unsportsmanlike conduct or language, and to eject such disqualified person from the playing field. <b>If an umpire disqualifies a player while a play is in progress, the disqualification shall not take effect until no further action is possible in that play</b>.</i>"

Also, see 5.10(h).

Now, if <b>I'm</b> the offensive manager, and it's <b>my</b> player who had just acted like this, and the umpire calls "time" to eject him and have another player fulfill his award of 1B, the only thing the umpire is going to hear from <b>me</b> is an embarrassed apology for my player's unacceptable behavior and a "thank you" for tossing him.
