I have heard much about a chest protector made by Cece Carlucci. Can anyone tell me anything about it? How do you go about getting one? I understand it is custom made and needs to be fitted. I live in NY and I believe Carlucci lives in CA. Does he have a web site that we can see what it lookes like?

Well,

I have a Carlucci.

Part of the issue is that it is a hand made protector. Is it that much better than store bought? Maybe, but part of it is legend.

Cece can fit you without you being at his home. His measuring system is very detailed. There has still been one example I can think of that the customer felt the final product did not fit.

My Carlucci is the basic "Triple Protection" model. One thing in dealing with handmade is you can select a color (mine is Royal Blue).

There have been pictures at times available. If you call him (he is 82 years old and NOT web-based) he will send a brochure with pictures and fabric samples.

Question And the $1000 question is...

Cost is around $250 and can go up from there.

The product is customized for you, so the "value" of the product is subjective to each owner. Most owners, however, rave about the fit of a Carlucci chest protector after wearing it (and breaking it in) as compared to the "off the shelf" chest protectors.

And,

Cece will take it back and change the fit if you change in body type at no charge.

Tony: It is simply a personal value. You buy part of Americana at the same type you get a valuable made-to-fit specialized item.

I doubt if it would be a "value" to all . . . to me it was.

Anything from an 82-year old is definitely Americana; and I'm with you, Tim, would surely be of a special value - besides highly functional.

Try an internet search for Carlucci chest protector; you will get a handful of responses.

Our very own website has some info!
