i searched all over, but i couldn't find an answer. count to the hitter is 0-2. pitcher injures himself and needs to be substituted... does the count reset? where is this in the rules? i read most of the mlb.com official rules, and i couldn't find anything that clearly stated this... also, is the inverse the same, ie, a pinch hitter replaces the current batter with a 3-0 or some other three ball count? thanks! |

Indirect evedence: The scoring rules cover who gets credit for what when a change is made. Therefore the "new" player must have assumed the situation of the "old" player. 10.17(b) and 10.18(g)
