i searched all over, but i couldn't find an answer.

count to the hitter is 0-2. pitcher injures himself and needs to be substituted... does the count reset? where is this in the rules? i read most of the mlb.com official rules, and i couldn't find anything that clearly stated this...

also, is the inverse the same, ie, a pinch hitter replaces the current batter with a 3-0 or some other three ball count?

The count doesn't reset in either case.

Indirect evedence:

The scoring rules cover who gets credit for what when a change is made. Therefore the "new" player must have assumed the situation of the "old" player.
